Working with Strategies

Strategies are the settings that make campaigns work.

A strategy is a line of delivery within a campaign, with its own budget, schedule, targeting, delivery settings, and creatives. Splitting a campaign into multiple strategies lets you run different messages, budgets, or audiences side by side — and compare them in Reporting.

Adding a strategy

In the campaign editor's Strategies sidebar, click Add New. Bronco creates a draft named "New Strategy" (then "New Strategy 2," and so on) — rename it to something meaningful, since strategy names appear throughout Reporting.

Click any strategy in the sidebar to open it in the editor. Each strategy shows its status next to its name: Draft, Active, Paused, or Blocked.

Duplicating a strategy

Duplicating is the fastest way to test a variation — change one thing and keep everything else identical.

  1. Open the ⋮ menu on the strategy in the sidebar.

  2. Choose Duplicate.

  3. Give the duplicate a name (it defaults to "(Copy)" plus the original name) and click Duplicate.

The copy carries over everything: budget and schedule, geography, demographics, audiences, apps and channels, delivery time slots, frequency cap, and creatives. It's created as a new Draft, so settings that were locked on the published original — budget type and start date — are editable again on the copy.

Pausing and resuming a strategy

From the same ⋮ menu, you can Pause an Active strategy or Resume a Paused one. This affects only that strategy — the rest of the campaign keeps delivering. You can also pause and resume strategies from the Strategies view of the Campaigns page.

Deleting a strategy

Only unsaved draft strategies can be deleted from the ⋮ menu. Once a strategy has been saved, use Archive from the Strategies view on the Campaigns page instead (the strategy must be Paused or Draft). Archiving hides it from your lists while preserving its performance data, and can't be undone.

The Strategy Estimate panel

As you edit, the Strategy Estimate panel updates live with:

  • Estimated audience reach — the households your current targeting can reach

  • Projected Impressions and Households, viewable as Weekly or Daily based on your budget

  • Deliverability — Optimal, Moderate, or Low, a health check on whether your budget and targeting are well matched

If deliverability drops or reach looks smaller than expected, loosen your targeting or adjust your budget and watch the estimate respond.

What every strategy needs before saving

  • A name

  • A budget greater than zero and a start date (plus an end date, for lifetime budgets)

  • At least one app or channel

  • At least one creative
